Somali government forces have clashed with opposition supporters angered by the delayed presidential election. Security forces fired live ammunition as protesters hit the streets of the capital Mogadishu. The march was being led by presidential candidates including, prominent opposition leader Abdirahman Abdi Shakur Warsame. Somali politicians were due to select a new president earlier this month. The process was delayed after the opposition accused incumbent Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of filling electoral boards with his supporters. Political rivalries could play into the hands of the al-Shabaab terrorist group that has been engaged in bloodshed for years. Al-Shabab is seeking to overthrow the African country's internationally-backed government.
