A US senior official says Washington will not give Iran any sanctions relief until an agreement is reached between world powers and Tehran on returning to the 2015 nuclear deal of the JCPOA. McGurk made the remarks in a virtual meeting with Jewish American leaders. The senior official stressed that there’s a very long way to go and that the process is complicated. He said President Joe Biden’s administration is not going to pay anything upfront just to get a process going. This comes ahead of a third round of JCPOA revival talks in Vienna on Monday. Iran says if the US is interested in the deal it must abandon its unlawful violations and verifiably remove all sanctions imposed and relabeled since January 20, 2017.
